What counties are exiting from the Marketplace Exchange in 2026?

Effective January 1, 2026: Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, and Wayne Counties will no longer provide Ambetter.

Ambetter from Meridian will continue to offer plans in the following counties:

  • Calhoun
  • Cass
  • Genesee
  • Hillsdale
  • Ingham
  • Jackson

  • Kent
  • Lake

Why is Ambetter from Meridian not being offered in those counties?

Our decision to reduce our footprint for 2026 reflects a careful balance between rising healthcare needs and our focus to maintain access and affordability for members while still offering programs like My Health Pays and 24/7 Virtual Care.

We have reached out to affected members to support them through this transition and are encouraging timely plan selection during Open Enrollment to ensure uninterrupted access to care.

You can direct members to do the following:

I am contracted with Ambetter from Meridian and provide services in a county that is exiting – is there anything I need to do?

No, Ambetter from Meridian will be keeping and maintaining all current provider contracts.  While your county may not be offered in 2026, Ambetter members may access your group or service for medical care from other counties or for select specialty services.

As a reminder, the following lines of business that are still offered in those exiting counties include:

  • Meridian (Medicaid). Offered in Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, and Wayne
  • Wellcare (Medicare). Offered in Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, and Wayne
  • Wellcare By Meridian (HIDE). Offered in Wayne and Macomb
